Fuel Injector Basics

Testing the fuel injectors on your 1997 3.1L Buick Century may seem like quite the headache since they're located underneath the intake manifold plenum. But it's really not as difficult as it seems because the engine comes equipped with a 10-pin fuel injector wiring harness connector that's located behind the alternator, and that's where we can test them.

That's right. This 10-pin connector gives us access to all six fuel injector circuits, which means we can perform several different electrical tests without having to remove the intake manifold plenum.

Now, one thing you've got to keep in mind is that the fuel injector harness side of the connector (the side that goes to the fuel injectors) has male terminals. The engine wiring harness side, which is the PCM side, has female terminals.
