Intake Manifold Bolt Torque Specifications

Intake Manifold Bolt Tightening Sequence (1997, 1998, 1999, 2000 4.2L V6 Ford E150, E250)

The illustration above shows the intake manifold bolt tightening sequence to avoid damage to the intake manifold gasket or vacuum leaks.

NOTE: Install the intake manifold gaskets without any type of sealer.

Cylinder Head Bolt Torque Specifications

Cylinder Head Bolt Tightening Sequence (1997, 1998, 1999, 2000 4.2L V6 Ford E150, E250)

The illustration above shows the cylinder head bolt tightening sequence.

NOTE: Use new cylinder head bolts.

Before installing the cylinder head bolts, clean and oil their threads. Use 5W30 engine oil to lubricate the cylinder head bolt threads.

NOTE: Install the cylinder head gasket without any type of sealer.

Cylinder Head Torque Specifications
Step 1 14 Ft. Lbs. (20 N.m) NOTE: Bolts must be tightened in sequence.
Step 2 29 Ft. Lbs. (40 N.m)
Step 3 36Ft. Lbs. (50 N.m)
Step 4 Loosen all bolts 3 turns in the sequence shown (see illustration above).
Step 5 Tighten all short bolts to 15-22 Ft. Lbs. (20-30 N.m)
Step 6 Tighten all long bolts to 30-36 Ft. Lbs. (40-50 N.m)
Step 7 Tighten all bolts an additional 175°-185° (DO NOT use a torque wrench!)
