IAT/MAP Sensor Wiring Diagram (Part 1)
NOTE: The IAT/MAP sensor wiring diagrams and info in this page apply only to 1996, 1997, 1998 Dodge/Plymouth SOHC/DOHC 2.0L.
As you're already aware, the IAT/MAP sensor assembly is two sensors in one. One part is the intake air temperature (IAT) sensor and the other is the manifold absolute pressure (MAP) sensor.
The PCM provides 5 Volts DC on the PPL/WHT wire to both the TP sensor and IAT/MAP sensor (intake air temperature/manifold absolute pressure sensor).
If you're testing for a short to Ground, a short to power, or an open in this circuit, you'll need to unplug both sensors to test this circuit.
The following tutorial may be of help when testing the actual MAP sensor (to see if it's creating a signal, or not, with a multimeter):

IAT/MAP Sensor Troubleshooting Notes:
The PCM provides Ground to about 9 different sensors on the BLK/LT BLU wire. If you're testing for a short to Ground, a short to power, or an open in this circuit, you'll need to unplug all the sensors this wire connects to (test this circuit).
Where To Buy The IAT/MAP Sensor And Save
You can buy the IAT/MAP sensor for your Dodge/Plymouth Neon in just about any auto parts store but you'll spend a whole lot more because they mark it up quite a bit.
My suggestion is to buy it online or at least comparison shop to get an idea of how much it costs and how much you can save.

Not sure if the above MAP sensor fits your particular Neon? Don't worry, once you get to the site, they'll make sure it fits by asking you the particulars of your vehicle. If it doesn't fit, they'll find you the right one.
